Implants are one of the most popular ways to replace one or more missing teeth. An implant is a titanium screw that is placed into your jaw bone.

An implant provides the most natural way to replace a tooth or multiple teeth. You will be able to chew on it and floss it normally. Unlike a bridge, it is free standing and does not involve adjacent teeth.

There are several steps that are taken to ensure that we can complete your implant surgery in a predictable and successful manner.

  1. A consultation appointment will be needed to examine your medical health, teeth, and gums, we will determine if you are a good candidate for implant surgery. Book a consult with us - dentists who do implants in Kitsilano.

  2. We will take a 3D cone beam x-ray to ensure that we can avoid the adjacent teeth or any important structures of the jaw. We will also use our intra-oral 3D scanner to make a digital model of your mouth. At this appointment, we will give more information in regards to any other procedures that may need to be done in the implant area to ensure success, such as bone grafting or sinus lifting.

  3. We will then carefully plan where the implant will be placed via our cone beam CT x-ray. The surgery is completed with a guide that goes over your teeth so we can precisely place the implant.

  4. After the surgery, we will wait for at least 3 months for the implant to heal.

  5. Once the implant has healed, we will place a crown on top of the implant.

After the implant and crown is placed, you can brush and floss your implant as normal. It will require regular maintenance and cleaning just like your other teeth.
